The Professional Beauty Show was held on the 24th and 25th February this year at the London eXcel Centre.
At the show I attended some brilliant seminars about various topics including digital marketing (with the inspirational Sharmadean Reid MBE), Vlogging (with the amazing Natasha Lee) social media for business and one about a new (non Nails) product on the market that I’m interested in adding to Five by Five.
That’s the great thing about this trade show, I got to meet and chat with my current wholesalers, Sweet Squared and their brand ambassadors, as well as some fantastic CND educators and nail artists who work with the same brand as I do. All on their fabulous stand. I also got to meet and chat to the team behind a brand of hard gel for nail enhancements that I’m looking at training in and introducing to my business. This was brilliant as they are a lovely married couple made up of a nail technician and a polymer chemist, so in terms of nail products a perfect match and this shows through in the product which is even better than I’d hoped, I’ve signed up to an informational day in April to learn more about the products and any training I’d need.
The show is also an opportunity to see what other brands are doing and to get a feel for up and coming trends and products so that I can continue to bring you the best, safest and most up to date services.
It’s a very busy show and incorporates the nail, hair, beauty and spa industries, as well as competitions for nail art, makeup, and even lashes, fascinating to see. I decided to enter my first nail art competition. I think it’s a good way to push myself and see where I can improve my skills. I entered the mixed media boxed nail art category, this is basically 10 nail tips arranged into a single canvas and decorated using more than one media, for example I used CND Shellac, acrylic paint, glitter and liquid and powder. l didn’t get placed this year but I didn’t expect to, having no idea what the judges were looking for, but I also didn’t come last and I now have something to build on for the next one, if I’m feeling brave again!
Here are some pictures I took at the show to give you an idea of the size of show and just how busy it is.
Here’s a very tired me on day two with my competition entry:
